Self-Portraits of My Past Lives, Vol.1 is a collection of photography from actual ghost towns in Idaho and Montana, using myself as the subject. It comprises four fictional short Western vignettes in four different periods (1865, 1877, 1889, and 1905) using photography, clothing, editing, typeface, and storytelling that mimics the look and feel of the era.
This project was a combination of a desire to stretch the form of self-portrait photography as far as possible, while imagining a past with me—living as myself, a trans woman—in it. It is titled "Volume One" because I would like to continue this theme further into the 20th century in future works.
This is offered for $5, with the option to pay more if desired. In this bundle is a PDF of the main story, as well as a zipped folder of all the images used, plus seven bonus images that were cut from the final product (but that I still quite liked)!
You'll receive a 45-page PDF composed of four short vignettes from 1865 to 1905, and a folder of 43 JPEGs.
