The Last Great American Road Trip

Automotive journalist Victoria Scott looks at the future of America through the lens of the past. This zine, with photos shot almost entirely on film, covers her and her friends' journey from Seattle to Minneapolis—through the heartland of trans-hostile territories—in a 1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16 and a 1981 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Diesel as they run alongside the once-mighty Pacific Extension of the Milwaukee Road railway. She tries to find out what, exactly, she—and the rest of America—is actually nostalgic for. (Nonfiction writing.)
